This book offers a comprehensive overview of the British cybernetician Gordon Pask (1928–1996) and his work in the field of architecture. This book is divided into two main parts. The first part presents an account of architectural projects undertaken by Cedric Price (1934 – 2003) who was one of the most innovative thinkers on urban planning and development. However, Pask’s role and involvement in Price’s projects turned out to be crucial. The second part gives an overview of Pask’s reencounters with Cedric Price and John Frazer, a pioneer in the domain of evolutionary architecture.
The second part concentrates on the so-called information environment which became a focus for Pask’s later achievements and which constitutes a vivid architectural expression of second-order cybernetics.

Gonçalo’s research, realized at my home in UK during 2005 and published with my permission, provides a passionate overview’s of G’s life and his performance in the fields of cybernetics, architecture and the arts.

Amanda Heitler Ι daughter of Gordon Pask

This is an outstanding book about the most fascinating personality I have met in my life and with whom I have been friends and in close contact with for more than twenty years:
Andrew Gordon Speedie Pask. Prof. Gonçalo Furtado has written a magical (albeit true) biography of Gordon Pask, portraying both the man behind the scientist and the links he set up between architecture and cybernetics (essentially focused on his relationships with Cedric Price and John Frazer).
