Lovely Rita "ON THE EDGE OF TENDERNESS"


als Weiterführung von "a lovely affair" und als neuerliche Antwort auf die Frage "what is this thing called jazz ?" präsentiert Lovely Rita nun "ON THE EDGE OF TENDERNESS"

nur die luziden Momente am Rande des Schlafes gleichen der traumwandlerischen Sicherheit, mit der dieser "Cycle of Songs", eingebettet in vibrierende Improvisationsräume, durchbrochen wird, um auf einer tieferen/höheren Ebene Ganzheit zu erlangen. Wie lange verschüttete Fresken, die im grellen Licht des Tages verblassen, tauchen die "alten Lieder" in diesem tranceartig fließenden Puls auf, um uns gleich wieder zu verlassen auf unserer ewigen Suche nach der verlorenen Schönheit.

"Lovely Rita makes music about pop-music" (W.Kos 2/2001) For this special program this statement has to be modified into "Lovely Rita makes music about jazz-music" But as to the pop-music of the 60ties and 70ties, the approach to the "Standard Jazzrepertoire" of the 40ties and 50ties is not merely intellectual, but an affair of the heart . Once again Lovely Rita is researching the tension between songstructure and improvisation. Choosing her favourite "Standards", Lovely Rita revives them with
distinguished grooves and combines them with improvised interludes to a continuous flow of enchanting music.
