»Die Nacht, die Dunkelheit, die Aushebung des Tages, das Verlassen der äußeren Welt, das Versinken in die Innenwelt, die Entwicklung des Bewusstseins des eigenen Ichs in die Stille hinein. Das Fliehen wollen vor der Unangreifbarkeit der Tatsache der Einsamkeit. Das Sicheinlassen in die zunächst scheinbare Schwere, Unentrinnbarkeit, das Ausgeliefertsein und mit dem Sichverlassen, Vergessen, entsteht Leichtigkeit.«

Die nayeah kompagnie, unter der Leitung von Anna Kropfelder, entwarf gemeinsam mit dem italienischen Komponisten Simone Santi Gubini und der aus Wien stammenden Medienkünstlerin Sabine Maier, das 50 minütige Musiktheater »E« für Cello, welches von dem New Yorker Cellisten John Patrick Popham am 14.& 15. Jänner 2016 im echoraum, in Wien uraufgeführt wird.

was found in 2013 by Anna Kropfelder, in Graz, Austria. As a boundary transcending work field, the nayeah kompagnie organizes yearly the four day lasting Festival Schauschall Fest, in Graz, presenting a program of music, performance, lecture & dance. Within these activities the main focus of the nayeah kompagnie is creating new works of music theatre. Working with the best artists & musicians of different medial forms & disciplines, the collaboration of profound craftsmanship & leaving comfort zone, shows enigmatic works of depth & energy.

Anna Kropfelder (DE)
is a producer & visual sound artist working in the field of music, art, poetry, theatre & film. In 2013 Anna Kropfelder found the boundary transcending nayeah kompagnie, in Graz, Austria, creating & producing new works for music theatre. In 2014, the nayeah kompagnie won the CALL 2014 of Land Steiermark, with the project Schauschall Balkan Tour, presenting parts of the schauschall Fest 2014 in five different countries of south-east europe. Since December 2013 Anna Kropfelder organizes yearly the Schauschall Fest in Graz, collaborating with international and local artists of different medias.

Simone Santi Gubini
born in Rome. Living in Austria 2012-2014. Studying electronic music at the Università degli studi di Roma 2000-2003. Practising piano with Valentino di Bella 2001-2006. Studying composition at the Conservatorio F. Morlacchi, Perugia 2004-2007. He attended Masterclasses with Wolfgang Rihm, Tristan Murail, Brice Pauset, Helmut Lachenmann and Hans Werner Henze (2004-2007). Artist in Residency Académie de France à Rome - Villa Medici Winter 2006. Musical works published in the Editions Gallimard - La Camera Verde, Paris / Rome. Since the end of 2009 working freelanced in between sound notation, music-theatre, acoustics and electronic music. Simone Santi Gubini lives & works in Berlin.

Sabine Maier [Machfeld]
(geb. 1971 Österreich) ist Foto- & Medienkünstlerin, die nicht nur mit, sondern auch an den Medien, an den vielen Dimensionen des Medialen arbeitet. Gemeinsam mit Michael Mastrototaro gründete sie 1999 das Kunstlabel Machfeld. Viele der künstlerischen Arbeiten von Sabine Maier entstanden unter dem Pseudonym MACHFELD. Sabine Maier erhielt den Outstanding Artist Preis BMUK Österreich, das Staatstipendium für Medienkunst - BMUK Österreich sowie das Auslandsstipendium des Landes Steiermark.Vertreten von der Galerie Raum mit Licht in Wien, Galerie 3 in Klagenfurt, sowie von Canon Cinema in San Francisco.

John Popham
Cellist John Popham is a chamber musician and teacher based in Brooklyn, New York. His playing has been described as “brilliant” and “virtuosic” (Kronen Zeitung), “warm but variegated”, and “finely polished” (The New York Times).
Currently a member of Either/Or Ensemble and LONGLEASH, Mr. Popham has performed internationally with groups including Klangforum Wien, Talea Ensemble, and the Argento Chamber Ensemble. He has appeared as soloist with the Louisville Orchestra, the String Orchestra of Brooklyn, the Red Light Ensemble, and the Kunstuniversität Graz Chorus.
Recent festival appearances include Brücken (Austria), Open Music (Austria), IMPULS (Austria), the Vermont Mozart Festival, USINESONORE (Switzerland), Bay Chamber (Maine), the Contemporary Classical Music Festival (Peru), Lucerne Festival, and Klangspuren (Austria).
Dedicated to new music performance, Mr. Popham has worked with composer including Pierre Boulez, Tristan Murail, Steve Reich, Nils Vigeland, and Reiko Füting. The recipient of a Fulbright research grant, Mr. Popham spent the 2013/2014 academic year in Austria, where he studied the performance practice of Klangforum Wien and worked with leading figures in contemporary Austrian music: Beat Furrer, Georg Friedrich Haas, Klaus Lang, and Pierluigi Billone.
Mr. Popham is currently cello faculty of the Extension Division of Rutgers University. He received his BM and MM from the Manhattan School of Music where he was a student of David Geber and David Soyer and was awarded the Manhattan School of Music Full Scholarship. He has recorded for Tzadik, Carrier, New Focus, Albany, and Arte Nova records.
